WORTH IT?
Today's reading: Jeremiah 27-31

We've all read and are clinging to the popular verse in Jeremiah, 29:11...

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

This verse has been written on graduation cards, in letters of encouragement, printed on posters, inked on bookmarks, hung on walls, quoted in Bible studies, screen printed on t-shirts and found on Bible covers.

Like I said, it's a popular verse, but have you ever noticed the verse before it?

"The truth is that you will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again." Jeremiah 29:10 NLT

Do you think when Jeremiah spoke these words from God, the people heard the hope in them or were they focused on the SEVENTY years?

If you knew just how long God wanted you to walk through a valley, would it help?

If you were given a specific number of years you would suffer with that disease, that heartache, that stronghold, would it help?

If you were told when the hurt would end, would it help?

God is not required and we are not capable of understanding all that He allows, but He can be trusted to always, ALWAYS, be proven trustworthy, loving and gracious.

So, friends, let's continue waiting for the 'But then I will...' promise He has given each of His children!

It will be good, no matter how long He chooses it must take.
