GODLINESS

Today's reading: Proverbs 13

"Godliness helps people all through life, while the evil are destroyed by their wickedness." Proverbs 13:6 NLT

You hear, every once in a while, about death bed confessions.

Moments at the end of a person's life in which they turn their hearts over to the Lord, before slipping off into eternity.

Hooray for them! To have settled with the Lord their sins and accepted His gift of salvation before it's too late.

But as the proverb this morning states, godliness-being led by God, directed by God, imitating God's Son, and living to please God-benefits a person the entirety of their life!

Godliness helps a person when they are young, not to make choices that leave life-long consequences.

Godliness helps a person as they 'adult', setting boundaries that lead to an honorable life.

Godliness helps a person when life throws them a curve-ball, one that might otherwise completely knock the props out from under you if not for faith.

Godliness helps a person when standing for right, needing to be courageous and when enemies attack.

Godliness is what will get a person from birth to death-- and beyond!
