ZACCHEUS
Today's reading:  Luke 19-20

"Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town.  There was a man there named Zaccheus..."  Luke 19:1-2 NLT

I don't guess I knew.  Maybe I'd never noticed.  Quite possibly I had overlooked the information...

Zaccheus lived in the same town Joshua fought?  Zaccheus was from the same region where the walls came tumbling down?  Zaccheus lived and breathed the same air the Israelites took in as they circled the city and waited for the trumpet to sound?

So he had heard about this Messiah.

Maybe that's why he tucked the hem of his robe in his belt and unstrapped his sandals and climbed up the sycamore tree.

To see this man who had been given the power of a wall-tumbling God.

To really know for himself, what He was really like.

To attempt to catch a glimpse of Him.  To maybe get close enough to--well, close enough to know Him.

Zaccheus had heard.

Thing is, Jesus had heard about Zaccheus, too...and came looking for Him in that tumbled down city!
