JUST PASSING THROUGH
Today's reading: Psalm 39-41

"Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don't ignore my tears. For I am your guest-a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before." Psalm 39:12 NLT

I don't guess I had ever thought of myself as God's guest on earth.

But He did place me here. He has provided for me here. He is showcasing one of His finest masterpieces, His creation, to me while I walk this earth.

Often one feels quite pampered while being a guest. The best dishes, nice fluffy towels, accommodations that impress and hosts who tend to your every need.

But being a guest sometimes has its down-side...You never feel like you are 'really' home. You never quite fit in. You never can truly 'unpack' and settle.

Visiting inhabitants.

Temporary inmates.

Resident aliens.

When I think about this earthly orb as the front yard of my home it sure makes it easier to keep traveling to the front door of Heaven, my true home! A place where I can completely unwind, rest 'in my own bed' and unpack all the baggage I may travel with...aaah, home!

There never was found in any age of the world, either philosopher or sect, or law or discipline which did so highly exalt the public good as the Christian faith.   - Francis Bacon
