RIGHT
Today's reading: 1 Kings 13-15

"He committed the same sins as his father before him, and his heart was not right with the Lord his God, as the heart of his ancestor David had been." 1 Kings 15:3 NLT

Right-being in accordance with what is just, good or proper.

Abijam began his new reign with a large red mark against him.

Were his policies well liked? Maybe.

Did he pull up to each meeting the newest and shiniest chariot? Possibly.

Did he kiss the cheeks of all the babies in the crowd? He very well could have.

But his heart wasn't right with the Lord--and that makes everything else done, well, spoiled.

It touches everything.

One's choices. One's decisions. One's character. One's relationships. One's legacy.

Abijam may have made the greatest policy changes ever in the history of Judah--but he's recorded in the Bible as not having his heart right with God.

What a sad obituary.
