KEEPING IT UNDER CONTROL
Today's reading:  Exodus 21-24

"If a fire gets out of control and goes into another person's field, destroying the sheaves or the standing grain, then the one who started the fire must pay for the lost crops."  Exodus 22:6 NLT

I believe this is a word picture of what happens when we allow sins to get out control.

Words hurt, maim and kill.

Bitterness encompasses, constricts and overtakes.

Fear entangles, chains and paralyze.

Anger smolders, ignites and scorches.

Our intentions are seldom to do harm, but things get out of control.

Issues of our heart, and head, take over and those around us get hurt or get a bad taste in their mouths of what Christian folk look like and act like.

Tighter reins, closer monitoring and keeping a thumb on areas we know we have occasional 'flare-ups' are required.  When our main purpose in being here is reaching the lost for Christ, we cannot allow anything to go up in smoke!
