A LITTLE BIT OF HONOR
Today's reading:  2 Thessalonians

"...And we pray that God, by his power, will fulfill all your good intentions and faithful deeds.  Then everyone will give honor to the name of the Lord Jesus because of you, and you will be honored along with him..."  2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 NLT

A little bit of honor goes a long way.

The problem is, it can go one of two directions...

You see, honor has a tendency to spur us on.  To encourage us.  To give us the extra little boost that keeps us going.  It's a pat on the back and an uplifting round of applause.

Or we can allow honor to go to our heads.  It can puff us up.  It can give us a pedestal to climb up on--and eventually tumble off of.  It can cause us to be prideful.  It can give us airs.

But to do what God wants?  To be honored as one of His, to be given accolades alongside Him--that, my friend will keep you humble.

Standing with the Lord reminds us of just how little we are, how unimportant we are, how few things we can do on our own.

And it also brings us to the realization that He allows us to be with Him.  He has chosen us.  He has selected us to receive a gift only His Son could give.

So how will you allow honor to affect your life today?  What will the applause do for you?  What will you do with all the compliments?
