 OUR LITTLE LIGHTS

Today's reading: Numbers 5-8

"Tell Aaron that when he sets up the seven lamps in the lampstand, he is to place them so their light shines forward." Numbers 8:2 NLT

The most detailed of instructions came with God's Tabernacle.

The recipes for the incense. The specific colors. The sizes, to the cubits, were given.

God knew what He wanted--provided guidance and had an expectation that those instructions would be followed.

Like with the lampstands.

He wanted the light shining forward.

Forward.

Sure, He could have focused the light on the past--what He had done, where He had brought His people from, all the miracles He had provided, but He knew what was coming. And He wanted them to see those new things clearly.

Very clearly.

He wanted their steps for the day well lit.

He wanted them looking ahead to a relationship with Him, not just past history.

History is a great pillow to rest on, but relationship is a better walking partner.
