SIN TOOK ADVANTAGE

Today's reading: Romans 7-8

"Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is evil? Of course not! The law is not sinful, but it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, Do not covet. But sin took advantage of this law and aroused all kinds of forbidden desires within me! If there were no law, sin would not have that power." Romans 7:7-8 NLT

To 'take advantage' means to make unfair demands on someone who cannot or will not resist the temptation.

Isn't that exactly what sin does in our lives?

It pushes us to limits.

It stretches our resolve.

It pulls out all the stops.

It reduces our mental strength.

It falsifies evidence.

It twists truth.

It shadows consequences.

Sin takes advantage of our defeated positions and ...

...holds us under water for just a few more seconds.

...pushes us to the edge of the decision.

...provides us with a quick fix and a socially acceptable response.

...exhausts us to the point we will always take the easy way out.

Watch out for sin in your life--it will always take advantage of you!
