ADVICE AND INSTRUCTION

Today's reading: Proverbs 19

"Get all the advice and instruction you can, and be wise the rest of your life." Proverbs 19:20 NLT

Do you know the difference between 'advice' and 'instruction'?

Advice is information given, facts, guidance and/or opinions. General knowledge offered in a hands-off manner.

Instructions, however, are steps to follow- usually provided by a professional, or at least one who has themselves accomplished said task. Instruction is usually more detailed, technical and precise.

Both are helpful.

Both can be sought.

Both can be offered from the well-meaning, godly people in your life.

But for me--I cherish the instruction given by those Christians in my life who are living it out, not just offering advice. 

Instruction that has had the edges worn off from use, from trial and error, given in the spirit of love and desire to see me accomplish.
