PROVE
Today's reading: Judges 4-6

"Then Gideon said to God, If you are truly going to use me to rescue Israel as you promised, prove it to me in this way..." Judges 6:36-37 NLT

Prove-to learn or find out by experience; to test the truth, validity or genuineness of; to test the worth or quality of; to check the correctness of.

I have to be honest, I used to think Gideon was quite audacious in asking God to do what he did.

Rather bold in his request.

Quite nervy.

I thought, Who are you?, little pip-squeak, to question the words and the power and the enormity and the reign of God.

But I've matured.

I've mellowed.

I've lived more life.

And now I get what he was asking.

To me, it wasn't Gideon asking to have God prove Himself, but to prove to Gideon himself he had heard what he thought he had heard.

I get that.

Let me hear You more clearly, Lord.

Verify that it's you speaking, God.

Take the 'me' out of the picture, Father, and let me hear only You!

I've had a lot of crazy ideas, Lord, let this not be another one of them.

Prove, authenticate, confirm for me, God, that it's You.
