AGAIN
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 4-6

"They carried the Ark of God into the temple of Dagon and placed it beside the idol of Dagon. But when the citizens of Ashdod went to see it the next morning, Dagon had fallen with his face to the ground in front of the Ark of the Lord! So they set the idol up again." 1 Samuel 5:3-4 NLT

Again-another time; once more.

The Philistines really thought they had something.

They just knew another 'idol' could help them out.

They figured this powerful Ark would boost the morale, improve their way of life and generally make things easier for them.

Isn't that what we worship other idols for?

But they found out the very first morning that all other idols pale in comparison to God.

They cannot stand against Him.

They are not in the same league.

They don't hold a candle.

Everything bows to His power and might and sovereignty.

But we continue to set them up again--and again--and again.

Hoping this time it might work. Believing this idol will be the magic one. Thinking this idol will be the end-all-be-all. Buying into Satan's lies that it's not that bad.

Let's save ourselves time, effort and a world of hurt by casting down our idols and begin to worship the One True God!
