KEEPING SHORT ACCOUNTS
Today's reading:  Proverbs 28

"People who cover over their sins will not prosper.  But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy."  Proverbs 28:13 NLT

I work in a business where monthly statements are mailed out at the beginning of the month for purchases made the previous month.

The customer signs a ticket for the merchandise needed, walks out the door and I send their bill to them as a 'Welcome To The New Month' prize.

I am amazed at how often it's stated by customers, 'Boy, I bought alot more than I thought--I didn't think about it adding up so quickly!'

We've all seen it happen.  A cartload, or a bagful of groceries adds up quickly.  A marvelous sale surprises us at checkout--at how much we racked up at even below regular prices change Even a yard sale's bargains can use up your loose change before you know it.

Sins add up quickly, too.

The old-timers used to say, 'Keep a short account with God.'  Meaning, make sure you're confessing along the way, so there's not a lot to do at the end of your life.

I need mercy too often, for my sins to be piling up and getting in the way of me receiving it...what about you?
