IDOL MAKING

Today's reading: Psalm 114-116

"For our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. Their idols are merely things of silver and gold. shaped by human hands. They cannot talk, though they have mouths, or see, though they have eyes! They cannot hear with their ears, or smell with their noses, or feel with their hands , or walk with their feet, or utter sounds with their throats! And those who make them are just like them, as are all who trust in them." Psalm 115:3-8 NLT

What idols have you made out of the blessings God has given you?

I'm not talking about little figurines you have whittled out of wood, or formed out of a tub of Play-Dough, or even casted out of a precious metal.

What idols have you made in your heart?

A title or position or degree?

A house or vehicle or boat?

An amount of money stockpiled in the bank?

Your accomplishments?

Your abilities?

Your children?

God has gifted us with so many blessings. We must be very careful that what He has provided does not become more important to us than Him. We must make very sure that our attention, our worship, our efforts and our energy show He is the God in our life, not the things He has given.
