JUST

Today's reading: 2 Samuel 5-9

"Now go and say to my servant David, This is what the Lord Almighty says: I chose you to lead my people Israel when you were just a shepherd boy, tending your sheep out in the pasture." 2 Samuel 7:8 NLT

If I were a tech-geek, I would have used a computer graphics program to highlight, animate and quite possibly, read this text to you with the word 'JUST' emphasized.

It's that important.

Read it again and put your own emphasis on that one single word--JUST.

Because, not only does it refer to the state David was in when God chose him, it refers to the sorry state we were in as well.

While we were sinners...

When we were in the gutter...

Because of our poor choices...

When we put ourselves first...

However it was we got into the condition we were in when Jesus found us...

He still chose us. Dirty. Messed up. Lost. Angry. Depressed. Used up. Worn out. Thinking we knew better.

He chose us while we were just ________ (you fill in the blank).
