 OUR ROCK

Today's reading: Deuteronomy 32-34

"But the rock of our enemies is not like our Rock, as even they recognize." Deuteronomy 32:31 NLT

I love capitalization. It helps me figure out the common from the extraordinary. The everyday from the holy. The minute from the monumental.

Case in point, this verse!

Our enemy would prefer we serve, bow down to, trust in and worship a rock. An inanimate object. A created object. A lump.

But we are provided a Savior. A Redeemer. A Deliverer. A Friend. A Comforter. A Shepherd.

A Rock.

The Creator, not the created.

And my favorite part of the verse--'as even they recognize'.

If our enemy can take our eyes off the truth for the slightest moment, he can slide substitutes in and we are seldom even aware. Our enemy knows the potential of our Rock. He knows the power of our Rock. He knows the depths to which our Rock is solid, unchanging and life-changing.

Blessed be the Rock!
