 SOFT SPOTS
Today's reading: Numbers 13-16

"And your children will be like shepherds, wandering in the wilderness for forty years. In this way, they will pay for your faithlessness, until the last of you lies dead in the wilderness." Numbers 14:33 NLT

As much as God loved His people, His chosen people, He had had enough.

Their disobedience. Their complaining. Their doubt. Their wickedness.

He had disciplined them. He had shown them His power. He had attempted to sway them to His way of thinking. But, alas, nothing worked.

So He had to hit them in a soft spot.

Their children.

The punishment for their faithlessness, was that their children would wander...and wander...and wander, before ever getting into the Promised Land. And, if that weren't bad enough, none of them would ever see them enter into it.

That had to hurt.

It had to make the point God was wanting to make: sin and disobedience to God is a serious mistake.

Were they sickened to know what they had done to their children?

Do we think about what our faithlessness does to ours?
