 CONSUMED

Today's reading: Job 23-24

"Death consumes sinners just as drought and heat consume snow." Job 24:19 NLT

I've looked a little deeper into this verse this morning.

In Hebrew, the word 'consume' means to literally 'take away' or 'to steal'.

So in essence, when a sinner dies, this verse is telling us a sinner's life, at the point of death, is being taken or stolen from him.

What a striking contrast to what I have read just this week in a Max Lucado book, Begin Again...

'When we see death, we see disaster. When Jesus sees death, He sees deliverance.'

Think about it--when a sinner dies, his soul is taken or stolen away BUT when a Christian breathes his or her last breath, their lives are transported from a place that never was their home to where they have belonged their entire life!

They are delivered.

Finally delivered.
