NO WHERE TO GO BACK TO
Today's reading: Numbers 14-15

"Why is the Lord taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and little ones will be carried off as slaves! Let's get out of here and return to Egypt! Then they plotted among themselves, Let's choose a leader and go back to Egypt!" Numbers 14:3-4 NLT

I had always known the Israelites grumbled.

And they moaned.

And they complained.

And they murmured.

And they were ungrateful.

But until this morning, I never realized they actually got together to make plans to return to Egypt.

To the hardship of Pharoah's reign.

To the life of slavery.

To the inability to worship God.

To a land that wasn't theirs.

To the 'old days'.

Really?

Hard for me to even fathom, because, well, I have nothing to go back to.

I don't have a life before Christ.

Nothing worth thinking about.

Nothing I could ever consider trade-worthy.

Nothing I spend my moments cherishing in my memory.

Nothing I would ever want to trade for what I have now--even on the toughest, stormiest, darkest days of my faith walk.

Nothing on that side of my life that compares with the riches and eternal reward in store for me with Him.

I'm sticking with God, no matter what, because He is all I have!
