OVERBOARD
Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 24:1-25:16, Acts 27:1-20, Psalm 115:1-10

"The next day, as gale force winds continued to batter the ship, the crew began throwing the cargo overboard." Acts 27:18 NLT

Boy, oh boy, has this verse got me to thinking.

Of all the things in my life...

The things I fret over. The things I allow to consume my time. The things I consider most valuable and worthy. The things I hold most dear.

Of all those things, what would I throw overboard when a life boat-rocking storm appears on my horizon?

What wouldn't deserve all the time and attention I had been paying it?

What wouldn't hold its value amidst the turmoil of life?

What wouldn't I need as waves crash onto the deck, water begins to fill the hull and the masts start to bend and bow in the wind?

And why, oh why, am I wasting any time on it now?

Are there some things I need to toss overboard on this still-as-glass day in preparation for the storms that will come?
