OPPRESSION
Today's reading: Isaiah 29-30

"This is the reply of the Holy One of Israel: Because you despise what I tell you and trust instead in oppression and lies, calamity will come upon you suddenly. It will be like a bulging wall that bursts and falls. In an instant it will collapse and come crashing down." Isaiah 30:12-13 NLT

Oppression-unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power; a sense of being weighed down in body or mind.

God, when I choose not to believe in the power of your freedom, I am instead choosing to lived chained down.

When I refuse to walk from my prison cell in the light of Your promises, I am the one missing out.

In those times when I believe my enemy and his lies, instead of Your words of truth, I sit in the shackles Your Son has freed me from.

Why in the world would I ever do that? EVER?

And yet, You see me doing it-daily.

And You warn me--and remind me--and show me.
