APART
Today's reading: Leviticus 19-21

"You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own." Leviticus 20:26 NLT

Apart- at a little distance.

I'll tell you, this definition seems a little anemic in regards to how truly different God intends us, His children, to be.

He, I don't believe, doesn't just want us residing across the tracks, in a certain neighborhood or in a cluster of homes on a cul-de-sac away from down town.

He doesn't just want us in a separate cheering section at the ballgame, an off-to-the side booth at the restaurant or in a meeting hall off the main road.

Here is what the verse says in the King James Version Translation:

"And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine." Leviticus 20:26 KJV

We, believers in the saving power of Jesus' blood, are not just 'at a little distance', we have been severed from the pull, the influence and the sinful consequences of this world.

Chains broken.

Ropes cut in two.

Shackles unlocked.

Our identities verified as being His, not mistaken for still being of this world.

And because of this?

Because of this, we should be holy!
