PAYING THE ENEMY
Today's reading: 2 Kings 16-20

"Then Ahaz took the silver and gold from the Temple of the Lord and the palace treasury and sent it as a gift to the Assyrian king." 2 Kings 16:8 NLT

It struck my heart this morning as I read this passage of Scripture how very easily I can fall into the sin of using my God-given talents and gifts and abilities to serve the enemy.

I can waste the precious time God has allotted me chasing after things that are of no eternal value.

I can spend my energy running on the gerbil wheel of life only to find out I'm too worn out to serve Him--the very One who made me.

I can botch opportunity after opportunity to love my family well because I am chasing after what the world says I should be doing/caring about/looking like/wearing/being.

I don't want to take all that is God's and feed it to the always hungry but unappreciative idols of my life.
