MY HIGH PRIEST
Today's reading: Hebrews 5-7

"Now a high priest is a man chosen to represent other human beings in their dealing with God. He presents their gifts to God and offers their sacrifices for sin." Hebrews 5:1 NLT

I know a lot of godly men.

I am married to one. I have been raised by one. I am hopefully raising one. I am pastored by two. I am blessed to be surrounded by many godly men in my life, but...

But...none of them are in a position to represent me before God. None of them are perfect. None of them are blameless. None of them could offer a sacrifice that would cover my sins. None of them on their own accord could stand before God and testify on my behalf.

I am so glad Jesus was selected to represent me to God. Chosen, too humble to consider Himself worthy, but chosen as it says in the Word.

I have a High Priest who represents me to God as holy, blameless and forgiven, covered by the Blood, adopted, washed white as snow.

A Sabbath well spent brings a week of content, and strength for the toil of the morrow, but a Sabbath profaned, whate’er be gained, is a certain forerunner of sorrow.  - A. W. Pink
