A SPARK
Today's reading:  Haggai

"So the Lord sparked the enthusiasm..."  Haggai 1:14 NLT

Remember the song, Pass It On?

It only takes a spark to get a fire going
Then soon all those around can warm up to its glowing
That's how it is with God's love--once you've experienced it
You spread His love to everyone, you want to pass it on

The song was popular in the church during the 70's and 80's, especially among youth groups and until recently was a commonly sung campfire song in the Boy Scouts.  It was written by Kurt Kaiser, the same gentleman who wrote, Oh How He Loves You And Me, in the late 1960's.

Today's verse caught my attention and brought the song to my mind.

If we truly know how much God loves us--how can we not pass it on to another?

In Haggai, the enthusiasm was sparked for rebuilding the Temple which had been demolished.  God placed a spark in the hearts of the leaders of the time and the remnant of believers.

Has His desire that the Church be re-built changed?  Are there still those who He desires to see in His house on Sundays, Wednesdays, at any opportunity?  Are there still lives God hopes to change through the fellowship and love of His church?  Does God still believe the hope of all humanity lies in the Bethlehem Baby our churches speak of and believe in?

Has He placed a spark in you?  Has He given you an outreach idea?  A ministry idea?  A new way of getting out His message of salvation?

Pass it on, friend.
