WHAT AM I CLINGING TO?
Today's reading:  Mark 7-8

"...This is but one of many traditions they have clung to..."  Mark 7:4 NLT

What?  The tradition of ritual hand-washing.
Who?  The Pharisees.
When?  While our Jesus walked the earth.
Why?  Because their daddies had done it, their grand-daddies had done it, their great-grand-daddies had done it, etc.
Where?  In Jerusalem, but close to our homes than that!

This is the second reference to Pharisees I've come across this week in my quiet time.

It's making me think.  And think hard.

What am I clinging to more than Christ?

What traditions, rituals, opinions or comfortable routines am I clinging to more tightly than my Savior?

They had Him among them and still chose tradition over Him.

I have Him with me--am I doing the same?

Lord, help me release from my tight little fist anything that keeps me from clinging wildly to the hem of Your garment!
