SIN
Today's reading:  Jeremiah 1-6

"Israel treated it all so lightly, she thought nothing of committing adultery by worshiping idols made of wood and stone.  So now the land is polluted."  Jeremiah 3:9 NLT

Polluted.  Littered.  Trashy.

All because of sin.

It didn't start with the entire country.

It began with one man or one woman deciding that sin wasn't sin.  A gum wrapper in a 100-acre field.

Then they taught their children the same thing.

Then their children taught their children.  An overflowing trash can.

Then it was taught in their schools.

And accepted in their churches.  A garbage dump.

And approved by their governing body.

And eventually seen as acceptable, loving and forward-thinking.  A landfill that spread from sea to shining sea.

Did it only happen in Israel, some thousands of years ago?
