WHAT WE NEEDED
Today's reading:  Luke 3-4

"If was now the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius, the Roman emperor.  Pilate was governor over Judea; Herod Antipas was ruler over Galilee, his brother Philip was ruler over Itirea and Traconitis; Lysanius was ruler over Abilene.  Annas and Caiaphus were the high priests..."  Luke 3:1-2 NLT

The world had rulers.  Luke fills us in on that fact.

Powerful men.

Some were real movers and shakers.

The history pages are filled with their accomplishments.

I find it funny, however, that God chose to preface the chapter where Jesus is introduced into His ministry with this list of powerful men.

There were rulers.  But the King had come.

They had political power.  But the Creator ruled over the wind and seas and cared for the smallest sparrow.

The elected officials could reign in their specified territories.  The Holy Triune knows no boundaries.

Annals of history record their deeds.  The hearts and souls of men and women bear witness to His sovereign rule!
