PEARL
Today's reading: Psalm 30-32

"The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like the senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control." Psalm 32:8-9 NLT

Pearl is the newest addition to our farm family.

Pearl is white. Pearl is tall. Pearl is, well, Pearl is hard-headed. Pearl is a horse.

Pearl requires a bit in her mouth to get her to do what it is you want her to do...unless, of course, it's what she's wanting to do anyway.

Funny, she's my horse. We're alot alike. No, not in regards to the tall part of her description.

Life would be easier for Pearl if she trusted me to take her where she could eat greener grass, walk without stumbling and explore areas around our house that are interesting and a little more exciting than her pasture.

She balks and I have to remind her I'm in charge by carefully adjusting the metal bit in her mouth. It's uncomfortable. It's hard. It's not natural.

God does the same thing sometimes...to me!

I chafe under the direction He leads me in. I squirm under the consequences my choice of actions have landed me in. I gag, spit and sputter as I taste the stew I tend to bake myself into!

If Pearl and I were to only learn. Oh, if we'd only learn.
