PRAYING
Today's reading: Psalm 114-116

I'm no extraordinary prayer. I haven't the inclination to pray for long periods of time. I do not use King James English while I talk to God...He doesn't use it when He speaks to me--we just have that kind of agreement.

I'm used to praying among twenty or so pre-schoolers, which lends my prayers towards short, sweet, to the point, usually about someone's pet and with one eye open!

When I talk to the Lord during my quiet time, I allow what comes to my mind to direct the prayer. If a worry rears its ugly head, the Lord and I discuss it. If a gift from Him comes to mind, I thank Him. A need, a request, a moment pushing me towards praying for another, that's what He and I talk over.

My prayers are not magical. I do not pray believing what I say or how often I say it does any good. I do not pray to fulfill a religious duty. I do not pray to impress those listening to me. I pray because I love Him and I know He loves me! I pray because I know He listens!

"I love the Lord because he hears and answers my prayers. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 116:1-2 NLT

Why do you pray? You do pray, don't you?
