WHERE I PUT MY TRUST

Today's reading: Isaiah 1-6

"Stop putting your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. How can they be of help to anyone?" Isaiah 2:22 NLT

Yesterday's winter storm has given me pause to consider how much trust and dependence I put upon being able to approach my nearest light switch and turn it on.

Or push the button on my handy-dandy stove to heat up and cook me a frozen pizza.

Or my furnace being able to run and keep my nose-y and my toe-sies nice and toasty.

Because you see, the infrastructure that delivers that wonderful electricity to my home can be compromised--in this instance by layers of ice, broken tree limbs and powerful gusts of wind.

But I also place my precious trust in banking institutions, medical fields and people who are as imperfectly wired as I am.

Why do I do that?

Why do I set myself up for their breach of trust, no matter the reason, and some being at no fault of their own?

They are of no real help to me.

But, God?

But, God!

He is my strength, my help, my foundation, my rock of surety, my fortress and my strong tower.

I can depend upon Him with all I've got--and I'll never, ever, ever, be let down!
